A study released earlier this month by SmartAsset has ranked the most tax-friendly places for retirees in Nevada.
Spring Creek, Elko and Winnemucca ranked 1, 2, and 3, respectively, based on income tax paid, property tax rates, sales tax paid, fuel tax paid, and its Retirement Tax Friendliness Index.
Nevada’s arid climate that receives 220 to 300 days of sunshine per year, depending on where in the state you live, recreational opportunities and the most casinos of any U.S. state and more than 130 golf courses, makes it a great place to retire, according to SmartAsset.
“Nevada also has some of the lowest retirement taxes of any U.S. state. It has no state income tax, which means that all retirement income is tax-free (at the state level). It also has relatively low property taxes, while the state sales tax is somewhat higher than average,” the report said.
Rounding out the list of Nevada’s most tax-friendly places for retirees are: Silver Springs, Carson City, Gardnerville, Boulder City, Dayton, Pahrump, and Mesquite.
