Reno non-profit Silver Sage Manor, Inc. will host a Grand Opening and 25-year Anniversary Celebration on September 12th at 11:00 AM at its newly completed Lincoln Way Senior Apartments for low-income seniors.

Lincoln Way Senior Apartments is a new three-story apartment building located at the corner of 4th Street and Lincoln Way in Sparks. This well-located complex is adjacent to Poulakidas Park, Sparks City Hall, Dilworth Middle School and Lincoln Park Elementary providing residents with easy access to these and numerous other facilities in the area. The attractive Craftsman-style development also includes spacious patio areas and walkways and beautiful xeriscape landscaped grounds. The 45 one- and two-bedroom accessible/adaptable apartments with washers and dryers and balconies are Energy Star-rated and the project is served by a solar array. The extensive community space includes a dining room with warming kitchen, library, exercise room, computer lab, and lounge areas. An on-site Resident Services Coordinator will assist tenants with access to services needed in order to maintain their independence.

The Apartments serve the ongoing need in Truckee Meadows for barrier-free and affordable supportive senior housing. All units serve seniors age 55 and over with incomes at or below 45 percent of area median income. In addition to serving lower income seniors Lincoln Way Senior Apartments will provide a veterans preference for 30 percent of its units. Further, with assistance from the Reno Housing Authority, Silver Sage will also be able to assist 5 homeless seniors with securing permanent high quality housing. The continued need for affordable housing for seniors has been evidenced by the incredible demand and rapid leasing of the project.

Silver Sage Manor, Inc. is a local non-profit that grew out of discussions at a Men’s Breakfast held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in the late 1980’s. The discussions led to the formal formation of Silver Sage Manor, Inc. in 1991. Since that time Silver Sage continues to meet its mission to serve the needs of seniors by providing high-quality affordable housing. Over its’ 25-year history this mission has resulted in the development of 582 units of affordable housing throughout Nevada. Silver Sage Manor has completed 152 senior affordable units in the Truckee Meadows as a sole developer since completing its initial project in this role in 2007.

Funding for Lincoln Way Senior Apartments came from the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program administered by the Nevada Housing Division, the Washoe County HOME Consortium, administered by the City of Reno, the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Wells Fargo Community Lending & Investment, and Idaho-Nevada Community Development Financial Institution.

The Grand Opening & 25th Anniversary Celebration will take place Monday, September 12th at 11:00 am, at the project site, 618 4th Street (Corner of 4th & Lincoln) in Sparks.
