Children safe after Amber Alert; two still sought

Two children are home safe after they were taken from their grandparents by their noncustodial father on Monday evening.

Douglas County deputies still were looking for the children’s father, Dason Valdez, 29, and Krystal Reid, 27, in connection with an Amber Alert issued 7:30 p.m. Monday night.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, a Carson City District Court judge awarded custody of the children to Valdez’ parents on Monday.

At 5:11 p.m. he went to his parents’ Indian Hills address allegedly knocked down his mother and took the children.

Deputies searched the area for a white 2000 Mazda Protétgé without license plates.

At 9:25 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office canceled the alert after the children were returned to the grandparents by a friend.

Deputies recovered their vehicle early Tuesday.
