Local affairs: There were 115 votes registered in the Carson precinct and 50 at Empire.

A long drunk: A. Markley and Frank Thorne went up the valley in a wagon and had been drinking a little. Thorne got out at the flume and Marklev drove the team off to Jack’s Valley where he unhitched the team and let it go. He was arrested on a complaint sworn to by Thorne and charged with stealing. The case was called to court, and he was there, still drunk, and the Justice sent him to jail to sober up. It is the general idea that the horses ran away with him, and he was too drunk to stop them ... case dismissed.

Theatricals wanted in Goldfield: Tex Rickard is now on the lookout for theatrical talent of first-class reputation to open the theatrical season in Goldfield. He is negotiating with Kolb and Dill to go to Goldlfield with their latest success, “Lonesome Town.”

Squires: Younger gentry to be known as St. Theresa’s Squires was organized by the Rev. James B. Empey. Mickey Laxalt was chosen as the group’s first president, Joseph Pieretti as vice-president and Charles Borden, secretary-treasurer. Those present were Mickey Laxalt, Joe Pieretti, Lee Alton, Arnold Gillie, Virgil Bucchianeri, Eugene Pieretti, and Bernard Allen.
