A few hundred leaders in business, government and education gathered last week, Sept. 20-22, at the University of Nevada, Reno for the second annual Nevada Economic Development Conference — Building a Stronger Nevada.
“The conference brings together some of the most influential, motivated and visionary minds Nevada has to offer,” Senator Dean Heller, a supporter of the event, said in a prepared statement.
Sponsors and guests were welcomed to the conference Tuesday evening with reception in the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, where participants were toured displays of rocks, minerals and fossils in the W. M. Keck Museum.
During the conference, the nearly three dozen sessions were grouped under the headings of Agribusiness, Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Economic Development Vitality, Energy Infrastructure/Transportation, Manufacturing and Workforce Development. Speakers and panelists were brought to the Biggest Little City from all over the state and beyond.
The conference was presented by the University of Nevada, Reno, College of Business, University of Nevada, Las Vegas Center for Business & Economic Research, Western Nevada Development District, Nevada Industry Excellence, and USDA Rural Development.
