Commercial real estate transactions

RE/MAX Premier Properties announced the following commercial real estate transactions:

Ultimate Fitness Concepts, LLC, DBA: UFC Gym leased 11,000 square feet of retail space at 4875 Kietzke Lane in Reno. Kevin Sigstad and Fred Jayet of RE/MAX Premier Properties represented the tenant. Roxanne Stevenson and Casey Scott with the Reno office of Colliers International represented the landlord, who was undisclosed.

Nevada Stealth, Inc. leased 8,620 square feet of industrial space at 250 Cal Lane in Sparks. Tom Miller with Miller Industrial Properties represented the tenant. Kevin Sigstad and Fred Jayet of RE/MAX Premier Properties represented the landlord, Vesco Inc.

AboveGeo

AboveGeo, formerly AboveNV headquartered in Reno, has been selected as “Aerospace Company of the Year,” by NCET, Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology,

Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo launched an entire fleet of card-free ATMs, providing customers the ability to log in with a code instead of a physical card making it the first large bank in the United States to do so.

Cannabis relocations

The Sparks City Council approved the relocation of Greenleaf Enterprises, Inc., a medical marijuana dispensary from an approved but not yet established location at 1825 Freeport Boulevard to a location at 1730 Glendale Avenue.

The council also approved NV Green, Inc. to move a medical marijuana cultivation facility from an approved but not yet established location at 1492 Linda Way to a location at 1475 Hymer Avenue.

Parsons Behle & Latimer

Attorneys from Parsons Behle & Latimer of Reno and Conti Fenn & Lawrence of Baltimore obtained significant rulings for Bartech Systems International in a copyright infringement and misappropriation of trade secret lawsuit before the United States District Court for the District of Nevada.

In the rulings, U.S. District Court Judge Miranda Du found that Vincent Tessier, a former Bartech employee, copied and misappropriated Bartech’s trade secrets and copyright-protected computer code in developing ABreez by Mobile Simple, a competing minibar management solution. Judge Du granted partial summary judgment in favor of Bartech and ordered the defendants to cease offering the portion of the ABreez software that communicates with hotel’s property management systems.

Judge Du issued her rulings on March 23.

Yerington Copper District

Quaterra Resources Inc. and its subsidiary Singatse Peak Services LLC has commenced drilling of approximately 20,000 feet to test targets throughout the Company’s 51-square-mile land package located in the historic Yerington Copper District in Nevada.

Campagni Auto Group

Carson City Toyota and Capital Ford have started new scholarships through Western Nevada College that will be offered starting this fall.

In addition to creating its own scholarships, Campagni Auto Group recently funded WNC scholarships awarded to four local high school students at the Northern Nevada Development Authority’s Pioneer Awards on March 31.

120 West Strategic Communications has added Butcher Boy Meat Market Reno as a client for marketing and communications engagement.

PRSA CONFERENCE

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) has announced that Ira M. Gostin, MBA, president and chief marketing officer of 120 West Strategic Communications of Reno will be a featured presenter at the 2017 Counselors Academy Conference May 7 to 9 in Seattle.

PRSA is the largest professional organization serving the U.S. strategic communications and public relations industry. Counselors Academy is a sub-unit of PRSA and offers an annual conference to help agency owners maximize profits, people and potential.

Gostin’s presentation, “Creating an Agency From Scratch: What Keeps You Up at Night,” will be on May 9. He will share tips learned from starting his own agency.

Yoga Pearl Studio

The Yoga Pearl Studio, a yoga studio in Sparks, Nevada specializing in Vinyasa Yoga, selected Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Nevada, a nonprofit that houses families with children at local hospitals, as beneficiary for its April Karma Yoga class that was held April 2.

Barrick Gold Corp.

Barrick Gold Corp. announced that it has reached an agreement with Goldcorp to form a new partnership at the Cerro Casale Project in Chile. Under the terms of the agreement, Goldcorp has agreed to purchase a 25 percent interest in Cerro Casale from Barrick.

This transaction, coupled with concurrent purchase by Goldcorp of Kinross Gold Corporation’s 25 percent interest in Cerro Casale, will result in a 50-50 joint venture between Barrick and Goldcorp.

Nevada Builders Alliance

Nevada Builders is having its inaugural First Friday Mixer on Friday, April 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Larry Peyton Agency Farmers office at 10725 Double R. Blvd. Ste. B in Reno. Renown Health of Reno has been selected as a finalist for the 2017 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, which awards employers who support employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.

U-Haul

U-Haul Company of Nevada, announced that Utility Trailer Sales has signed on as a U-Haul neighborhood dealer to serve the Reno community. Utility Trailer Sales at 1510 W. 4th St., in Reno will offer U-Haul trucks, trailers, towing equipment, support rental items and in-store pick-up for boxes.

Hours of operation for U-Haul rentals are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

City of Sparks construction contracts

Spanish Springs Construction was award a contract in the amount of $637,444 to rehabilitate city curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. The project involves the complete replacement and rehabilitation on K Street, L Street, and M Street from Stanford Way to Probasco Way. The existing curb and gutter infrastructure has deteriorated over time and is restricting storm water runoff.

Sierra Nevada Construction was awarded a contract in the amount of $157,800 for the repair and patching of various areas of failing roadway throughout Sparks. The wet winter this year has left several areas of city streets with cracks and potholes.

Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe

The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, located mid-mountain at Northstar California Resort, introduced three new localized spa treatments inspired from the architectural design of The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Lake Tahoe. They will be offered year-round.

Pets of

the Homeless partnerships

Nutrition Unlimited was welcomed by the national nonprofit Pets of the Homeless as a new donation site. Donations of pet food and supplies can be taken to 1507 Highway 395, Suite A, in Gardnerville, that will be delivered to a local food bank, homeless shelter or homeless encampments.

The program is an ongoing national effort to regularly supply donated pet food to local people who can’t afford to properly provide for their pets.

Dutch Bros. donates to CHS

Dutch Bros.’ Carson City location celebrated its newest location and donated $3,500 to Carson High School on March 19. The new location on Highway 50 sold all 16-ounce drinks for $1 on opening day. All the funds raised will benefit Carson High School.

The new location is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
