Terrible Indian Fight (continued from Tuesday): On learning the information, Winnemucca communicated it to the white settlers, some 10 to 12 in number at once got ready. Winnemucca, with his hand picked men, some 15 in number proceeded to the Pitt River’s camp and attacked at daylight on Sunday. Only one of the Pitt River Indians escaped alive. It was more severe punishment than the whole military force of the government has been able to display in the state for the last 12 months.

All sorts: There was sleighing in Virginia City yesterday. The Tahoe woodchoppers are flocking into town. The Episcopal social last evening at the rectory was a very pleasant and well attended affair.

Senator Newlands of Nevada is seeking the president’s approval for a series of bills covering the railway situation for the war period. He proposes that the government buy millions of dollars worth of railway equipment and rent it to the railways, saying it is difficult for the railroads to finance their own purchases.

A “pay as you go” plan to provide a solution to Carson City sewer problems brought on by and enlarging with the growth of the community, was presented to city trustees last night by state health department officials.

The state Supreme Court ruled Thursday that 60 graduates of Reno’s unaccredited Nevada School of Law may practice their profession in Nevada.
