Members of the Catholic Girls’ club enjoyed a buffet supper Monday evening in St. Theresa’s parish hall. The table was attractively covered with a lace cloth, placed over crepe paper which depicted club’s colors. Bye tapers formed the centerpiece.

Gov. Paul Laxalt appointed a new state prison warden on the spot Monday “to correct the deplorable situation” of seven inmates escaping from the maximum security section, the second prison breakout in five days.

The Senate, in a move engineered by Western and rural state senators, voted Tuesday to permit states to loosen the 55 mph speed limit on rural interstate highways.
