There will be a mining boom in Red Canyon next summer. This the Genoa Courier has on the authority of a miner who says we can take his head for a football if it is not true. Douglas County will either have a mining boom in the near future or witness the liveliest game of football ever beheld.

Sobering up: The peace officers of Carson arrested three buck Indians yesterday for being drunk and lodged them in jail to sober up.

During the months from March through December 1946, 33 new buildings were under construction in Carson City, the city engineer’s office reported today. Twelve new storerooms and garages were being built during that time, it was indicated.

50 years ago

Nevada will not longer be a divided state as far as Daylight Saving Time is concerned, the chairman of an assembly committee said Friday. White Pine, Lincoln and a portion of Elko County — all in eastern Nevada — will remain on Standard Time to coincide with Utah. Further discussion on the bill to give the governor power to impose a uniform time through the state is expected next week.

Thursday’s Board of Supervisors meeting turned into a shouting match between Mayor Dan Flammer and Supervisor Ron Swirczek because of a memo the mayor had issued, directing supervisors to limiting inquiries from city staff.
