In Reno there are many choices when it comes to your child’s education. Coral Academy of Science does not just teach science, in fact, its curriculum is steeped in the S.T.E.A.M. philosophy. S.T.E.A.M. stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math and these subjects touch everything the instructors at Coral Academy teach their students. Children learn literature and history as well, and all other prudent subjects, to make them well-rounded now and in the future.

With 100 percent college acceptance rate in 2016, Coral Academy of Science is dedicated to the education of its students to prepare them for college and beyond. Coral Academy of Science is a tuition-free, public, charter school sponsored by the Washoe County School District. This learning environment is open to any and all students, there are no test restrictions or financial restrictions. Coral Academy of Science is the opportunity to introduce your child to the education possible within a charter school setting.

“Coral Academy has a strong emphasis on science, with S.T.E.A.M. topics present in all facets of the school,” said Nick Pasto, graphic design and digital game development high school teacher. “With regularly scheduled open houses, the community has the opportunity to learn more about the academy and how to be part of it.”

The curriculum is rigorous, but the school is dedicated to making sure the students enjoy themselves as well. This year the high school and middle school are introducing sports as an option to their students so they can receive the benefits that accompany athletics. In the 2016-2017 school year, Coral Academy introduced cross country, basketball, football, skiing, volleyball, and track and field for boys and girls. There are after school activities, science fairs, competitions and many other events that inspire students to mingle and collaborate on projects throughout the school year.

Coral Academy of Science was established in 2000 with just 67 students and a strong emphasis on science and math. Today, Coral Academy has a student body of over 1,200 with three campuses in Reno. The three locations include: the elementary school located at 1701 Valley Road; the middle school located at 1350 E. Ninth Street; and the high school located at 6275 Neil Road.
