The Reno Technology Park (RTP) will soon be home to a 60 megawatt solar energy facility.
The park is a 2,200 acre data center campus located 18 miles east of Reno. The RTP, developed by Unique Infrastructure Group, is home to a major Apple data center campus.
The new 60 MW solar power facility, known as the Turquoise Solar Energy Project, is a joint development of Estuary Capital Advisors and Sumitomo Corporation of Americas.
Estuary is a renewable development firm based in San Francisco and Reno. Company principals have over 20 years of experience developing, investing in, and managing large scale energy and infrastructure projects.
Sumitomo is an integrated investment and trading enterprise with extensive global experience as a developer, operator, and owner of energy facilities.
For Unique Infrastructure Group, Turquoise Solar fulfills a vision of an on-site, utility-scale renewable energy resource within the data center campus. Turquoise Solar received its special use permit in July 2015 and closed on the purchase of 500 acres in the Reno Technology Park in June 2017.
Turquoise Solar expects to commence construction in late 2017 and to begin producing solar energy in 2018.
