Mine reclamation award nominations sought

The Nevada Excellence in Mine Reclamation Award Committee is seeking nominations for outstanding mining or exploration projects in Nevada.. The awards are given for industry leading examples of success. This is an opportunity to demonstrate innovation in the protection of air and water quality, offsite mitigation, wildlife habitat enhancement, cultural preservation, and cooperative partnerships. Successful examples of reclamation practices in Sage Grouse habitat are highly encouraged so they can be shared with others. The committee consists of representatives from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Nevada Department of Wildlife, Bureau of Land Management, United States Forest Service and the Nevada Division of Minerals. The award(s) will be made at the Nevada Mining Association Annual Convention at South Lake Tahoe on Sept. 9, 2017. Submissions are due by Aug. 4, 2017. Individuals or companies can submit a nomination by sending a description or report of the nominated project(s) with supporting data and photographs by mail or electronically to: Nevada Division of Minerals 400 West King Street Suite 106 Carson City, NV 89703 ndom@minerals.nv.gov Projects which were considered in previous years, but did not receive an award can be resubmitted with appropriate updating. Accompanying letters or emails of support from regulatory personnel with oversight responsibility for the project are encouraged.
