Each year EDAWN hosts an event to recognize existing primary companies in the region. These companies are the foundation of our regional economy and contribute to our community by generating revenue, providing jobs, investing in employees, supporting charitable causes, and by contributing to the overall diversity and economic stability of the area.
The event is an opportunity to highlight their accomplishments and contributions, and for the community to show its appreciation for these existing primary companies. Nominations will be accepted for companies in Washoe County, the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center and the City of Fernley. The deadline for nominations is August 15, 2017.
A primary company is one that generates the majority of their revenue from outside Nevada. The community is encouraged to nominate their own primary company or another deserving company. Nominations can be made by anyone in the community: individuals, companies, or organizations. Winners will be selected by a judging committee of local business leaders.
"This is a great opportunity for the community to support existing companies who employ local Nevadans, and who make significant contributions to the economic vitality of the region each and every day," Mike Kazmierski, president and CEO of EDAWN, said in a press release.
There are 10 award categories including Company of the Year, Corporate Citizen, Partnership with Education, Excellence in Manufacturing, Biggest Little WOW and others. Category descriptions, nomination criteria, and the nomination form can be found on the EDAWN website here.
Registration for the event will open Sept. 26, 2017. For more information, contact Cynthia Egan, program manager, Business Retention | Expansion & Workforce or call 775-829-3712.
