Competency-based education leader Western Governors University (WGU) is expanding access to its online degree programs by offering 2 full-tuition scholarships and twenty $2,000 scholarships for members of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest human resources (HR) professional society.
Learn more about WGU’s scholarship opportunities for SHRM members at www.wgu.edu/tuition_financial_aid/scholarships/shrm.
The scholarships were announced at SHRM’s 2017 Annual Conference, which is currently taking place in New Orleans, LA.
Both full-tuition SHRM scholarships are valued at up to $3,250 per six-month term for up to six terms for a bachelor’s degree and up to four terms for a master’s degree. Each partial tuition SHRM scholarship is valued at $500 per six-month term for up to four terms. New and enrolling students can apply for these scholarships now through March 31, 2018.
To be eligible for a SHRM scholarship, applicants must be a member of SHRM, must be officially admitted to one of WGU’s bachelor’s or master’s degree programs, complete the scholarship application, and be interviewed by a WGU scholarship counselor. WGU will select recipients based on their academic record, readiness for online study at WGU, current competency, and other considerations.
SHRM recently found WGU’s Bachelor of Science in Business — Human Resource Management program to be in full alignment with their HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates. Both WGU and SHRM use competency-based learning, which focuses on measuring mastery of knowledge and skills rather than time spent in classes. SHRM’s competency-based model identifies skills needed for successful HR professionals and helps organizations ensure that their HR teams are proficient in the critical competencies necessary to solve today’s most pressing people issues.
