Northern Nevada FedEx drivers win truck driving championships

Patrick Nerger and Gragg Wilson, drivers in the Reno division along with Matt Hart in the Elko division of FedEx Corp., won state titles at the 2017 Nevada Truck Driving Championship (TDC) held on June 17.

Nerger earned his fourth state title, while Wilson earned 12 state titles. Wilson was also named the Nevada Grand Champion and his state titles make him a FedEx Ace. Hart won his third state title in the Freight, Twins category.

The state champions each earned an opportunity to compete in the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) in Orlando, Fla., Aug. 8-12. In addition to earning state titles, each driver qualified to compete by driving accident free for at least one year. The state TDCs and the NTDC provide professional truck drivers an opportunity to demonstrate their driving skills and safety expertise. Championships encompass three parts – a challenging driving course, a pre-trip inspection and a written examination, which covers vehicle operation and knowledge of federal safety regulations.
