All sorts: Episcopal Services, with a sermon by the Rev. Lathrop, at the Methodist Church at 7 1/2 o’clock Friday evening.

Gathering: Senators and Assemblymen, attaches and lobbyists; button-holers and crumb pickers, men with axes to grind and camp followers and hangers on, came flocking into town singly and in squads. Carson landlords and Carson folks are likely to reap from this mishap to the state.

Wildcat caught: Phil Mighels trapped a wild cat ... nearly the size of a New Foundland dog and four feet in length. He had been living on thoroughbred Plymouth Rock chickens and was in prime condition.

Mark Twain’s biographer: Albert Bigelow Paine is now gathering up early incidents of Mark Twain’s life in Carson City. Twain’s brother was the Territorial Secretary of State and Mark his deputy. Paine will visit the Comstock where he made his reputation as a humorist, then to Aurora where his historic cabin still stands. Joe Goodman can contribute more to Twain’s life than anyone. It was Goodman who recognized the latent spark of genius that everyone overlooked.

Ban on liquor sales: Nevada Indians would be permitted to purchase intoxicants the same as other citizens. The bill passed the State Assembly without a dissenting vote.

Hyman Olcovich House: The historic home may be moving to another location as Cactus Jack’s Casino recently purchased the property. It is now being used as law offices. Future plans look like making a parking lot out of the property. “We are going to do whatever is best for the building,” said Bill Hissam, general manager for Cactus Jacks.
