A celebration of Native America culture will be held when the 45th annual UC Davis Powwow returns April 14-15. The Powwow takes place on the East and West Quad of the UC Davis campus. The Stewart Advisory Committee will meet at 9 a.m. April 14 at the Nevada Indian Commission at the Stewart Indian School, 5500 Snyder Ave. The committee’s mission is to support, promote and assure protection of the history of the Stewart Indian Boarding School.

The Paiute-Shoshone Cultural Center hosts a community market from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays. The center is at 2300 W. Line St. in Bishop, Calif.

A weekly women’s circle craft night and potluck is 5 to 6:30 p.m. at 101 Big Bend Ranch Road, Wadsworth.

A substance abuse support group meets from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Sumunumu Resource Center in Fernley. Topics discussed include narcotics abuse, alcohol abuse and anger management.

Free computer classes are held Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon at 1662 Highway 395, Suite 105 in Minden; and from 1 to 4 p.m. at Carson Native TANF, 2310 S. Carson St., Suite 1 in Carson City. The class covers keyboard skills and Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. It also helps with setting up an email account, searching for a job, submitting applications, building a resume, and interviewing skills. Nevada Basketball

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Earl Dunn Memorial Basketball Tournament is returning to Pyramid Lake High School in Nixon March 24-26. The event, named after Earl Dunn, who started it as the Pyramid Lake All-Indian Invitational Basketball Tournament, was changed to the Earl Dunn Memorial Tournament following his passing in 1983.

The Northern Nevada Hoops Classic all Native high school tournament takes place March 30-April 1 in Reno. The champions will receive hooded sweatshirts; the runner-ups get long-sleeved shirts. Third place, all tourney, MVP, Mr. and Ms. Hustle and Most 3s awards will be given out in addition to the Jeremy Christy Memorial Award. California Basketball

A tournament in San Jacinto, Calif., will award $2,000 to the winner and free entry in next year’s event. Second place will win pullover sweaters; third place gets T-shirts. MVP and all tourney prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. The event, sponsored by Soboba Parks & Recreation, will be on March 31 will be at the Soboba Sports Complex.

Arizona Basketball

An open men’s and women’s basketball tournament March 24-26 will be at Burdette Hall Gym in San Carlos, Ariz.Awards will be given to the top finisher and runner-up, MVP and all tourney. Entry costs $150. Call David Leslie at 480-688-3407.

The Step-Back Classic, open to Jr. high school boys and girls, will be March 31-April 1 at Fort McDowell Recreation Center in Fort McDowell, Ariz. Awards will be given to firs and second place teams and all tourney. The format is double elimination with single championship game. First through third place winners plus allstar and MVP awards will be given in the Spring Shoot Out tournament March 31-April 2 at the Window Rock Sports Center in Window Rock, Ariz. The tournament, open to high school boys and girls, costs $100 to play.

Flagstaff, Ariz., is home to the DREAMS Joe and Leona Joyce Memorial tournament April 8-9. Divisions include adults, men’s 18 and over; adult co-ed, 8-9 co-ed, 10-11 co-ed, 12-14 co-ed, 15-18 co-ed, 10-11 boys, 12-14 boys, 15-18 boys, 10-11 girls, 12-14 girls and 15-18 girls. Shirts will be given to first and second place finishers, along with awards for the MVP of each division. The cost to play is $200 for adults and $175 for all other divisions. Washington Basketball

The Alvina Dillon Youth Basketball Tournament March 24-26 will be at Chief Leschi Schools in Puyallup, Wash. Entry is $250. Divisions are all native plus 1 token.

On April 1-2, the Suquamish Men’s 35 and over and 50 and over tournament will return to the Suquamish Health and Fitness Center in Poulsbo, Wash. Entry is $300, half of which is due by March 27.
