An act to provide revenue poem (in part):
Poor Bill! Tho’ust had a stormy time
A time of grief and woe,
In your passage thro’ this Upper House
Ere you could be let go.
For seventy-two successive days
I’ve seen your pleasant face;
I’ve amended, re-amended you,
And still you kept your place.
And now, old friend, go, go your ways,
I’ve done with you at last;
You now can work on your own hook —
Take care. Don’t be too fast.
(Journal Clerk, Carson City, March 27, 1867)
