150 Years Ago

Celebration: The Good Templar’s forming a procession, proceeded by the Carson Brass Band, marched from their hall in Wagner’s building on King Street, to the Presbyterian Church. They were in their finest appearance, wearing handsome regalia, and among their number were 20 ladies. Prayer was offered by Rev. Mr. Stump. Mr. Clayton was called for and walking to the platform, spoke briefly and earnestly of the Order of Good Templars and the cause of temperance. He related some personal reminiscences and anecdotes of the baleful effects of intemperance.
