The Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca officially debuted its new William N. Pennington Facility on May 17.

The 36,000-square-foot building is located at 1973 Whitworth Way next to Lowry High School in Winnemucca.

The new William N. Pennington facility includes separate areas for teens and youth with education and STEM classrooms, computer labs, recreation rooms, art rooms and a recording studio. It houses a cafeteria/multi-purpose room and a two-court gymnasium, as well as an indoor running and walking track. The facility also will offer a fitness center open to the entire community meant to generate revenue to help sustain the new facility.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of this community facility that will provide opportunities and impact the lives of so many youth and teens each year. The Club is extremely grateful to the William N. Pennington Foundation and our community supporters for making this dream a reality,” said Chad Peters, executive director of Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca in a press release.

The Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca will be open for summer programming beginning June 12.

The facility also will be open for after school programming and school breaks, to accommodate parents’ varied schedules. While at the Club, young people will participate in a wide range of programs and activities that will support academics, encourage healthy lifestyles and build character and citizenship.

The Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca will exist under the guidance and support of the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, which also has facility named after William N. Pennington that opened in 2014.
