A Magpie Hunt Sunday. Greenhead Club Arranges a Hunt but Asks Everybody to Compete For Prizes — People who remember the big magpie hunt that took place a few years ago will be interested in the event arranged by the Greenhead for tomorrow. The volunteer hunters are asked to meet on Maine Street as early as possible Sunday morning and start out in the various directions to bag the prey. Any hunter in the county is eligible, as well as members of the club.

Some Will Offer Their Lives, Others Will Loan Their Money to Their Country. As compared with that of the men at the front, the lot of most of our citizens is an easy one. The least that you can do is to subscribe to the LIBERTY LOAN OF 1917, which must be made an overwhelming success! By subscribing to this loan, you will be doing your duty as a citizen and your money will be invested in the safest security in the world. Your interest return will be satisfactory- 3½ percent. Subscriptions of at least $50 should be received from everyone. Protect your country, your family, yourself! Act today! — Churchill County Bank.

Apparently Folks Read the Paper. The following from Surveyor General Wayne McLeod is gratifying evidence that people do read their home town papers, and that the papers, in turn do perform a service for their readers. To Mr. Allen Dalbey, Editor Fallon Eagle, Fallon, Nevada: Dear Mr. Dalbey, a story emanating from this office in connection with a “back-to-land” movement in Nevada, and published in your newspaper, has elicited surprising response from Churchill County. Many of the inquiries we have received have been accompanied by the newspaper clipping from the Fallon Eagle. This to me shows graphically and forcibly the value of the newspaper, not only as an informative organ, but as a potent medium of getting a message to the public. Thank you for your splendid cooperation and with all good wishes for the continued success of your papers. I am Sincerely, WAYNE McLEOD, Surveyor General.
