Chamber News & Views: Pops Concert will soothe the soul

One of our favorite artistic events each June is the Annual Pops Concert presented by the Carson City Symphony taking place behind the Governor’s Mansion, this year on Sunday, June 11, featuring popular show tunes and the kind of music making one want to tap toes and sing along.

Bring along your picnic snacks, some wine, your personal comfortable chair or perhaps a blanket and just sit back, relax with friends and family letting those who play music carry us back to another time when life was slower.

This is the 33rd year for the popular Pops Party Concert featuring guest singer CeCe Gable, the full Carson City Symphony and the Symphony Chorus. One major change this year is the later start to avoid the blinding sun — and sometimes the heat. The preconcert festivities begin at 3 p.m. with the actual concert beginning at 4:30 p.m. It will be 90 minutes of pure, clean, old-fashioned entertainment suitable for all ages!

Did we mention this is a FREE event? There are not many places where you can sit in the backyard of the governor’s home and ponder the sky, chat with friends and just relax!
