Notice, Colored School House: “We, the trustees of the colored school house property, now known as the “Literary and Religious Association of Colored Citizens,” wish to inform the citizens of Carson that said school house is now finished and paid for ... We earnestly tender our grateful thanks to the numerous friends and citizens of Carson who have so kindly aided in so excellent an enterprise, and, as you see by this we value our Black habitants ... We truly hope that the School Commissioners will help us pay a teacher for the colored school ... Your obedient servants, J. W. Jackson, J. R. Brown, John Anderson, Jacob Johnson.

Lucky numbers: A large crowd gathered at the Emporium for the drawing of the Thanksgiving turkeys. A Chinese man did the drawing at the box and picked out numbers — he held one of the winning numbers. Dr. Leonard was in the house and in looking over his tickets found he had won the cord of wood given away a couple weeks ago by the Emporium.

Goldfield fight: Joe Gans and Battling Nelson agreed on all the details of their proposed fight except the weight. Nelson insists that Gans shall fight at 133 pounds in his fighting garb. The men agree that the winner shall receive 75 percent of the receipts and the loser 25 percent.
