The Carson City Library will be closed the entire Thanksgiving holiday, reopening on Monday.

And two weeks later, starting on Dec. 10, the facility will close for up to eight weeks for renovations.

The library’s main floor carpeting is being removed and replaced with stained concrete. The work requires grinding and produces significant dust so the library’s entire collection must be removed and stored outside while contractors install the new flooring.

Meanwhile, library staff will host pop-up libraries with the new book collection at various locations around town, including The Studio at the Adams Hub, the conference room at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension in the Northgate Complex and the Carson City Community Center.

The schedule of locations when available will be displayed on the library’s electronic sign on Roop Street; its web site, carsoncitylibrary.org; and fliers available throughout the city.
