Minden - Douglas County has received the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for their 2016 fiscal year budget.
The award reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff for meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the budget award, the entity has to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. Douglas County excelled and was rated “proficient” in all of the following areas for presenting their budget:
- A policy document
- A financial plan
- An operations guide
- A communications device
Larry Werner, County Manager, also received the Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation Award. When a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is granted to an entity, a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation is also bestowed upon the person primarily responsible for achieving the award.
“The Finance Division constantly strives to produce financial documents that are highly valuable to the citizens of Douglas County,” said Vicki Moore, Chief Financial Officer. “This award solidifies we are exceeding that goal on a national level and I could not be more proud of our team.”
GFOA is a major professional association that services the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners.
