Six Douglas County businesses were honored with Spotlight Awards at the Douglas County Business Council’s Critical Issues Conference held on Sept. 28.
Those given Spotlight awards were:
Retail Spotlight: The Chocolate Shoppe
Entrepreneur Spotlight: Sanchez Meats
Manufacturing Spotlight: Aspen Coffee
Restaurant Spotlight: JT Basque Restaurant Bar and Dining Room
Sports & Recreation Spotlight: Axelson Tactical
Business & Professional Service Spotlight: Heritage Law Group, Cassandra Jones
Tourism & Hospitality Spotlight: Edgewood Tahoe
Special recognition was given to the Douglas County Business Council for its 25 years of service to Douglas County.
Businesses were selected based on the following eligible criteria: uniqueness and marketability, involvement in the community or business community, investing in their businesses, exhibited ability to partner with public and/or non-profit sector, developed or refined their business plans, as well as taking steps to provide employee training or growth opportunities.
Each winner received an engraved lantern with a glowing flameless candle symbolic of keeping the Economic Vitality torch lit in creating a “Community to Match the Scenery.” The Business Council was presented a silver ribbon.
