The Board of Supervisors last meeting of the summer should be brief.
The Thursday meeting will start with a presentation on federal issues by Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev.
Amodei is in the area to hold two town halls for veterans, one at the Washoe County Administration Building in Reno from 1-3 p.m. the day before the supervisors meeting, and another in Winnemucca on Aug. 21 from 9-11 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Clubs.
After Amodei’s presentation, the supervisors will vote to amend the ordinance on signage for commercial businesses.
The changes include removing time limits on flag signs and banners, which now have 90-day limits, and allowing flags only attached to buildings.
The board will also vote to direct Carson City’s internal auditor Eide Bailly, LLP to perform projects recommended by the Audit Committee.
Those projects include a risk assessment evaluation and two studies, on fire department overtime and on temporary staffing used throughout city departments.
The board will also vote to accept a $384,187 Federal Aviation Administration grant to rehab taxiways A, B, C, D and taxi lanes E and F at the Carson City Airport; to extend the deadline on a tentative planned unit development for a project known as Clearview Ridge, west of Cochise Street between Roventini Way and Overland Street; and interview six applicants for three openings on the Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife.
The Board of Supervisors meets at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room, Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
