There it was prominently displayed as I entered the grocery store on Saturday.
Halloween candy. Displayed for everyone to see. On Aug. 11.
So now the HallowThanksMas season has now officially launched. In August. On Aug. 11.
I mean what better time to think about chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Thanksgiving turkey and trick-or-treating than during a 100-degree or so day on the second Saturday of August?
As I’ve written before we’ve basically turned Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas into one two-month holiday — HallowThanksMas. They’re really not separate any more.
I’ve also written I watched the entire 1973 USC-UCLA football game, commercials included, that was played the Saturday after Thanksgiving on YouTube.
There was one commercial that stated anything about Christmas shopping. One. Two days AFTER Thanksgiving.
Now the HallowThanksMas season begins on Aug. 11. And pretty much ends BEFORE Thanksgiving.
I mean who actually waits until AFTER Thanksgiving to do their Christmas shopping?
But I sure didn’t do any Halloween candy shopping on Aug. 11. I’m still one of those people who actually wait until Oct. 31 to do my Halloween candy shopping.
Still, let me be the first one to wish a Happy HallowThanksMas everybody. After all, I don’t want to be too late.
