SILVER DOLLARS AND WOODEN NICKELS: A ‘feat’ of clay in Carson City

Silver Dollars and Wooden Nickels is a weekly feature in the Appeal’s Opinion pages in which the Appeal gives Silver Dollars to those who deserve recognition and occasionally a Wooden Nickel to those who deserve criticism.

SILVER DOLLAR: To the USA Shooting Team, Wild Sheep Foundation and Wounded Warriors Outdoors for again holding Sporting Clay Shoot at the Capitol City Gun Club. The event featured veterans who are wounded warriors and several members of the USA Shooting Team. Other sponsors include Carson Valley Chukar Club, Northern Nevada Chapter of Safari Club International, Sportsman’s Warehouse and Nevada Bighorn Unlimited.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Gary and Jacob Nolan, a father and son team who are also Carson City painting contractors, for purchasing and refurbishing the residential motel, the Back on Track Inn, which they have renamed the Nolan Inn.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson City Public Works and Transportation and all those who worked to keep the community’s roads safe during the recent storm.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Sue Meuschke, executive director for the Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (NCEDSV), who was honored with a proclamation from the office of the governor for her 30 years of service.
