The Reno-Sparks Convention Center was recognized last month with a bronze medal in the Best Convention Center (Far West) category in the 5th Annual Stella Awards by Northstar Meetings Group, the nation’s leading publisher of meetings and events publications. The Stella Awards recognizes hotels, convention centers, conference centers, airlines, cruise lines, DMOs/CVBs and DMCs “that consistently deliver quality service and innovation to meetings and event professionals,” according to a Nov. 9 press release from the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority.
This year, meeting planners and professionals cast more than 6,000 votes for the 603 destinations, hotels and service providers nominated from around the world. “As an expanded and renovated facility with over 600,000 square feet of adaptable meeting space, the Reno-Sparks Convention Center is an ideal location for a wide variety of meetings and events,” RSCVA President and CEO Charles Harris said in a statement. “We are proud to provide first-rate quality, proximity to more than 15,000 first class-hotel rooms, and access to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, as well as the array of amenities provided by (the region’s) unique blend of entertainment and outdoor adventure.” Recently, the convention center welcomed Airports Council International for its 2021 Annual Conference & Exhibition. Looking ahead, the venue will host the International Institute of Municipal Clerks’ IIMC Annual Conference in May 2026, according to the Nov. 9 release. Stella Awards winners were announced Nov. 4.
