The PBS Reno Board of Trustees recently announced its new officers for 2021, along with a new board member.

Mark Herron — president/CEO of The Davidson Group, the investment management and philanthropic office of educational software entrepreneur Bob Davidson and his family — will serve as chairman this year, and will work closely with Christine Fey, Vice Chair; Don Kowitz, Finance and Audit Chair; Stacey Montooth, Secretary; and Jacey Prupas, Immediate Past Chair.

Further, Katy Simon Holland was welcomed as a new member of the board, after serving as president of Washoe County School District Board of Trustees in 2018 and 2019.

Additional board members include Mercedes de la Garza, David Dehls, Mendy Elliott, Lori Gilbert, Dr. Karin Hilgersom, Bradley A. Johnson, Sara Lafrance, Greg Mosier, L. Mark Newman, Terry Oliver, John Owens, Michael Rooker, Floyd Rowley, Rodney Sanford, Tom Taelour, and Sue Wagner.

“One of the reasons PBS Reno is one of the premiere educational, social and cultural institutions in this community is the consistent, high quality leadership we receive from our board,” Kurt Mische, PBS Reno president/CEO, said in a statement. “This group of officers is set to continue our tradition of service.”

Herron received his BSE in civil engineering from Princeton University and his MBA in finance from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. In addition to the PBS Reno board, Herron serves on several corporate boards, the Board of Trustees of Scripps College and the Governing Board of the Davidson Academy of Nevada, a high school for highly gifted students at the University of Nevada, Reno and online. Herron and his wife, Susan, have resided in Incline Village for over 20 years.

“Susan and I have been supporters of public television for as long as I can remember and it has been an honor to serve as a member of board of PBS Reno for over 16 years, alongside so many talented and dedicated board members,” Herron said in a statement. “My board colleagues and predecessor board chairs, along with an exceptional professional staff, have created at PBS Reno one of the most innovate and strongest members of the PBS system. I look forward to taking on the leadership of the board as Board Chair and continuing that legacy.”
