Broadbent & Associates on Jan. 14 announced the addition of Don Andrae as a senior technician at the civil engineering firm’s Elko location.
Andrae, formerly a lead environmental technician with Nevada Gold Mines, joins Broadbent with more than 30 years of experience in both mining and environmental sampling.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Don to our team,” Randy Miller, vice president and principal engineer at Broadbent, said in a statement. “It is exciting to see our presence in Elko grow, after opening our office in September of last year, and we look forward to the continued growth and success that Don will help us achieve.”
At Nevada Gold Mines, Andrae conducted various types of environmental compliance sampling and monitoring, including surface water and groundwater monitoring, slurry sampling, soil sampling, creek flow monitoring, process fluid sampling, water pollution control permit compliance monitoring, and telemetry.
He also spent nine years as a lead metallurgical technician in milling operations and nine years in an assay laboratory, which included one year as a lab shift supervisor.
Andrae holds certifications in environmental sampling from Nielson Environmental School as well as data logging from Campbell Scientific.
“Don’s expertise significantly bolsters our capability in providing environmental field services in Elko,” Ryle Yopps, Broadbent’s Elko lead project manager, stated. “He is a strong addition to our team.”
