PBS Reno announced Feb. 8 the hire of Samantha LaRussa as a digital marketing assistant.
In her role, LaRussa will create and publish content to the station’s social media platforms; elevate the station’s website with content including local programming and interactive features; enhance the station’s marketing footprint in the community; and strengthen efforts to bolster the station’s mission.
LaRussa is a 2020 graduate of the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she majored in journalism with an emphasis in strategic communications and minored in graphic design. While at UNR, she was a marketing intern with the Nevada Small Business Development Center and served as the design editor for The Nevada Sagebrush.
“I’m so excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the PBS Reno family,” LaRussa said in a statement. “Everyone has been so kind and welcoming; I couldn’t be happier to get my career started with such great people! I’m ecstatic to use my love of marketing, digital media and passion for public service all in one place. I have always wanted to be a part of something greater than myself, and PBS Reno fulfills that need perfectly.”
LaRussa will work closely with the station’s marketing team led by Chris Orr, PBS Reno Director of Art and Digital Marketing.
“As a new addition to the PBS Reno creative team, Samantha brings great enthusiasm for the opportunities that digital marketing and social media offers to inform and engage the communities we serve,” Orr said in a statement. “Samantha’s strong communication skills and design knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to develop and grow PBS Reno's digital offerings and projects. We are excited to have her lending her energy and ideas to the work we do!”
