People: Darrell Plummer appointed chair of Nevada Real Estate Commission

Darrell Plummer, broker/owner of Reno-based Sierra Nevada Properties, was recently appointed as chairman of the Nevada Real Estate Commission, a five-member body appointed by Gov. Steve Sisolak.


The commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Nevada Real Estate Division, adopts regulations, and conducts disciplinary hearings. Plummer was first appointed to the commission on Nov. 1, 2019; his 3-year term lasts through Oct. 31, 2022, with a possibility of a second 3-year term.


A fourth-generation Nevadan, Plummer is a 1984 graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in business administration specializing in finance and a minor in economics. With a background as a trust officer with First Interstate Bank of Nevada (now Wells Fargo) and as the Director of Economic Development with Sierra Pacific Power (NV Energy), he joined Plummer & Associates in 1995.


He took over as broker/owner in January 2001. In 2013, the company became Sierra Nevada Properties, with Reno, Fallon, and Fernley offices and more than 115 real estate agents.


Plummer holds several real estate designations, including CRB, ePro and GRI, and he was the Dean of the Leadership Program for the Nevada Realtors association and a founding member of the Board of Trustees program.

Among other duties, Plummer serves on the Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce board and was the 2019 Chair. He also serves on the board of the JUSTin Hope Foundation and is the 2014 Past President of Western Industrial Nevada (WIN).
