Sherri Aikin, MSN, FNP-BC, IFMCP, recently joined Functional Medicine of Nevada, located at 6490 South McCarran Boulevard in Reno.
Aikin is a board-certified nurse practitioner, with certification in functional medicine, integrative medicine and clinical sex therapy, according to a May 20 press release from Functional Medicine of Idaho, the parent company of the Reno branch.
For nearly three decades, Aikin has cared for adults in the Reno-Tahoe area, providing primary care for women’s and men’s health. However, utilizing telemedicine, Aikin can now expand care to adults living anywhere in Nevada.
“At Functional Medicine of Nevada, we practice medicine that focuses on finding and treating the root cause of illness in order to optimize our patients’ health and radically transform their lives. We believe every person has the potential to achieve wellness, and we are here to partner with our patients to improve their health and enhance their quality of life,” Aikin said in a statement. “By joining Functional Medicine of Nevada, my patients will now have access to a comprehensive resource network of functional medicine specialists.”
Aikin received a Master of Science in Nursing, as well as a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine, from the University of Arizona, Tucson. She holds certifications in functional medicine from The Institute for Functional Medicine and sex therapy from The American Academy of Clinical Sexology. She has extensive training and experience in family practice, gynecology, gastroenterology and clinical sexology.
According to the release, the Reno branch of Functional Medicine opened earlier this year; the company has 69 employees — 66 in Idaho and 3 in Nevada.
