Nominations are open for the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada’s 9th Annual Existing Industry Awards. This year, there are 11 award categories, including a new “COVID Champion” award for a business that pivoted during the pandemic to provide valuable resources and PPE, according to a June 15 press release from EDAWN. The Existing Industry Awards will be announced at an Oct. 21 event at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. “EDAWN is excited to host live events again and to honor amazing companies in our region. Primary companies contribute enormously to our economy and this event provides an opportunity for EDAWN to thank and recognize them for their accomplishments,” Nancy McCormick, a senior vice president with EDAWN, said in a statement. "This is a great opportunity for companies to not only highlight their contributions and success, but to also increase their visibility with other business leaders, elected officials, potential clients, suppliers, and job seekers." Nominations are open to primary companies located in Washoe County, the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center and Lyon County. Primary companies are those that generate 50% or more of their revenue from outside the state of Nevada, according to EDAWN. "We appreciate all the contributions that primary companies make to our economy and the Existing Industry Awards is a great opportunity to thank these companies who employ local Nevadans while providing economic diversity and viability to the region." EDAWN CEO Mike Kazmierski said in a statement. Go here for category descriptions, nomination criteria and nomination form.
