Casey Pomeroy, the new owner of Western Nevada Title Company in Fallon, recently purchased and displayed the photographs of Marie Nygren in three conference areas, now known by the themed photos as the Water, Ranch and Desert rooms.

Pomeroy, a Fallon native, moved to Virginia and then Tennessee after high-school graduation to receive her bachelor’s degree, and subsequently her master’s, in accounting.

A certified public accountant, she returned to Fallon to work at Widmer and Mills, where she continues to serve clients.

Her dream was to own her own business, and the opportunity to do so presented itself with the recent sale of Western Nevada Title.

Rhonda Hodges had owned and managed the title company for 37 years since its inception in 1983. With the acquisition, Pomeroy continued to employ the existing staff, who she says are an absolutely amazing team to work with.

Pomeroy said she enjoys the interesting, fast-paced and varying activities managing the business brings to her work.

Along with new ownership, Pomeroy wanted to give the office at 2258 Reno Highway in Fallon an updated, fresh look.

The love of her hometown and surrounding area became paramount in her vision to buy “Churchill County” photos.

Her quest led her to photographer Marie Nygren, who also works as Gallery Coordinator at Western Nevada College’s Fallon campus. Nygren and local business owner and printer Suzie Slaybaugh helped create Pomeroy’s reality.

Slaybaugh is the owner of Suzie’s Picture Framing, located in Jeff’s Copy Express on Maine Street in Fallon. She originally started framing in 1980 in Las Vegas, while in high school.

Her relative owned the shop, and when it sold, Slaybaugh went to work at a glass shop. Eventually, she relocated to Fallon and took employment with Jeff’s, a working relationship that has lasted 33 years.

Slaybaugh is a certified picture framer and a member of the Professional Picture Framers Association, (PPFA), specializing in restoration, large format printing and conservation framing.

Every four years, she attends a PPFA convention where new techniques are learned in classes and the familiarization of new products and then brought back to the shop.

“I love Fallon, the small-town atmosphere and the people. It feels like home,” Slaybaugh said.
