The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada announced recently the hiring of Kara Player Harris to the role of Director for Workforce Development.
According to an EDAWN newsletter, Harris will lead efforts to implement the organization’s workforce development strategy, centered on meeting current and future workforce needs of the region’s primary employers; the three pillars of the program are Upskilling, Attraction, and Building the Education Pipeline.
Harris, a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, joins EDAWN after working as director of sales at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. Prior to that, she worked as Corporate & Golf Sales Manager at the Eldorado Resort Casino in Reno. She’s previously held roles at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno and with Duncan Golf Management and Wolf Run Golf Club, among others.
She replaces Amy Fleming, who left EDAWN in March for the Nevada Governor’s Office of Workforce Innovation.
EDAWN also recently announced the hiring of Brian Bosma as Manager for the Business Retention & Expansion Development Department and Social Media Coordinator.
Prior to joining EDAWN, Bosma worked in several roles across the region, including as a creative marketing consultant at G Suite; executive director at Joey Gilbert Law; and an account executive at KOLO 8 News. He holds a B.A. in business marketing and communications from Liberty University.
