The Griffin Company in Carson City last month announced two key changes: Piper Overstreet has been named a partner, and Scott Gilles, former senior advisor to Gov. Steve Sisolak, has joined as the government relations firm as President of Government Affairs.

Overstreet joined the Griffin Company in November 2020 and has more than 15 years’ experience in government affairs, according to an Oct. 19 press release.

She has served as a congressional district representative, corporate government affairs manager, an entrepreneur, and most recently, a regional public policy leader for one of the world’s most recognized brands, Uber Technologies Inc. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and a Master in Public Administration from UNLV.

“I’m very thankful for the opportunity to grow the firm as a partner,” Overstreet said in a statement. “I look forward to building on the founding partners’ vision in this new leadership role while continuing to provide the level of service our clients have come to expect.”

Scott Gilles

Prior to joining the governor’s office in January 2019, Gilles served in multiple leadership roles in state and local government. He most recently managed government affairs and legislative relations for the city of Reno beginning in 2015, and prior to that he served as Deputy Secretary of State for Elections under then-Secretary of State Ross Miller.

Gilles transitioned out of the Governor’s Office in July. He holds a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and is a licensed attorney in both Nevada and California.

"It was the honor and privilege of my professional career to work alongside Gov. Sisolak and all the dedicated State employees to improve outcomes for Nevadans and make the Silver State a better place to live, and I thank the Governor for giving me that opportunity," Gilles said in a statement. "I am excited for this new chapter and challenge with one of the most well-respected and successful public policy and government affairs consulting firms in Nevada.”
