The Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce major 2021 fundraising event, “ALLIANCE: The Business of Sports,” is scheduled for Dec. 8 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

This year, speakers include Kerry Bubolz, President & CEO of the Vegas Golden Knights, and Adam Silver, Commissioner of the National Basketball Association. Of note, Silver is the brother of Reno+Sparks Chamber CEO Ann Silver.

“The Chamber, the largest business organization in northern Nevada, serving 2,300-plus companies and organizations, receives no federal, state, county or city funding, so we strive to provide a unique annual event,” Ann Silver said in an email.

The event will also feature a special announcement from Greg Mosier, dean of the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Speakers will address the intersection of business and sports — "how organized sports can strengthen local businesses, address community needs and positively contribute to a region’s overall economic landscape," according to a Nov. 15 press release.

“The intersection of sports and commerce is demonstrated by the vast number of jobs created by recreation, play and spectator opportunities in Nevada,” Ann Silver said in a statement. “Plus, everyone benefits when they can engage in physical exertion, appreciation of others’ skills or participate in the entertainment of competition.”

Doors open Dec. 8 at 9:15 a.m. for light breakfast and networking; the program begins promptly at 10.

Masks will be required for all attendees when not eating or drinking. Go to thechambernv.org to RSVP; tickets are $100 per person and $50 for students.

The Chamber’s ALLIANCE event typically occurs each February but was postponed this year due to the pandemic.
