Jowi Asmar recently joined law firm Woodburn and Wedge as an associate in Reno, practicing in the areas of family law, business law and general civil litigation.
Asmar earned a J.D. from Emory University School of Law, where he was founding president of the Middle Eastern Law Student Association, managing editor of Emory International Law Review, and a member of the arbitration team for the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society, according to a Nov. 4 release.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs and political science from the University of Nevada, Reno, where he graduated magna cum laude. Asmar previously served as a summer extern for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Valerie P. Cooke (Ret.) of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada.
From 2019-2021, he served as a clerk for the Honorable Lynne K. Simons and the Honorable Sandra A. Unsworth at the Second Judicial District Court. Asmar is admitted to the State Bar of Nevada, the U.S. District Court, District of Nevada and the DC Bar.
