Nevada Surgical Associates has announced the addition of nurse practitioners Jess Oja and Caitlin Ramsey to the practice.Caitlin Ramsey
With a passion for global health and improving access to care, Oja enjoys working with patients across the entire continuum of care at Nevada Surgical Associates.
Oja received her Master of Nursing in the family nurse practitioner track from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 2021, and volunteers regularly with organizations that provide reconstructive surgical care and perioperative training to various sites internationally.
Oja’s extensive experience spans from providing hospital care for pediatric and neurologic patients and primary and urgent care at a local free clinic, to providing critical care across various settings within the Swedish Health System, where she was a member of the Infectious Disease Response Unit. She completed an Intensive Care Residency in 2011 and trained in a peri-operative environment, where she developed a passion for promoting access to safe surgical care in low-income countries. Born and raised in northern Wisconsin, Oja’s nursing education began in the Midwest in Northwest Iowa where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Nursing from Luther College and completed clinical rotations at various sites within the Mayo Clinic system in Rochester, and across multiple rural health sites.
A Nevada native, Ramsey graduated from Carson High School and went on to nursing school in Florida where she earned her Associates of Nursing. She then returned to Northern Nevada and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno.
While working as a nurse, Ramsey studied for her master’s degree from Chamberlain University College of Nursing in Houston. Prior to becoming an advanced practice registered nurse, Ramsey honed her skills for six years working in a variety of specialties such as gastrointestinal, orthopedics, intensive care, gynecology, and pediatrics.
Ramsey’s diverse background has given her a great level of perspective for taking care of the patient population within Nevada Surgical Associates, where she spends most of her time in a clinical setting. Not only does she care for new patients, but she also devotes a large portion of her time to caring for patients in a post-surgical setting. Ramsey takes great pride in being upbeat, diligent, friendly, and warm with every patient she sees.
