The Northern Nevada Development Authority will host its annual “State of the Counties” breakfast on Jan. 26 at the Casino Fandango in Carson City, featuring presentations from representatives in the NNDA’s five-county Sierra Region.

Carson City Manager Nancy Paulson, Douglas County Manager Patrick Cates, Lyon County Manager Jeff Page, Storey County Commissioner Austin Osborne and Mineral County Commissioner Cassie Hall will share successes, challenges and future economic plans for the region, according to NNDA.

“It will be a really good opportunity to hear from those county leaders as far as what they see coming up in 2022,” Phil Cowee, executive director of NNDA, told the NNBW about the event. “Obviously, it’s going to be an interesting year with some of the political races that are going on and different county commissioners in various areas running for other offices and what that’s going to bring to the table.

“I think it’s really kind of a neat opportunity for people to come and just hear about what’s happening in the different communities. Obviously, they (the counties) all work autonomously, but at the same time it’s good to see kind of a regional perspective, too.”

Check in for the event begins at 7 a.m., breakfast is served at 7:30 and the program is scheduled from 8-10 a.m. General admission cost is $60 per person; sales end Jan. 25. Go to nnda.org/events to register and learn more.
