Shari Netzel has been selected as the vice president of donor relations for the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada.
In this role, Netzel will help advance philanthropy in Northern Nevada and increase the Community Foundation’s ability to cultivate positive change.
Netzel brings over 20 years of experience in comprehensive campaigns, donor relations, foundation, and corporate relations, planned giving, board development, and volunteer training to the Community Foundation. Most recently, Netzel served as associate athletics director for development at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Before moving into athletics, Netzel served as director of development for the School of Medicine on campus. She secured over $20 million in outright and planned gifts to benefit medical education, research, and clinical operations.
Previously to the University, she served ten years as director of the Renown Health Foundation. She supported the capital, technological, and operating needs of Northern Nevada’s largest healthcare provider.
Netzel is actively involved in professional organizations, including serving as past board president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, which she was named “Fundraising Professional of the Year” in 2015, and a past board member of the Planned Giving Roundtable of Northern Nevada.
Netzel’s community involvement has included volunteering and supporting numerous community organizations including The Children’s Miracle Network, the Nevada Women’s Fund, AYSO, Sparks Pop Warner, and the Spanish Springs High School Athletics Booster Club.
She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
