Visit Carson City has hired Eric Brooks as its new arts and culture program manager.
Brooks brings more than a decade of experience, having worked as an art director and gallery curator for various nonprofit organizations in Northern Nevada.
Brooks will be responsible for implementing, organizing, managing, and evaluating programs and initiatives that promote cultural tourism and the arts in Nevada’s capital city. This includes special events, festivals, and public art projects.
His role will also include collaborating with tourism industry partners, arts and culture organizations, community groups and schools to promote program awareness and to advance the overall efforts of Carson City’s arts and culture tourism programs.
Prior to joining Visit Carson City, Brooks served as the gallery curator and special events and community liaison for the Brewery Arts Center. He was also the gallery curator for the Sierra Arts Foundation and the creative director for Art Spot Reno.
As an artist-in-residence at an arts center in Scotland, he led the creation of a large-scale fundraising project with more than 40 artists. Throughout his career, he has pursued projects as an artist himself, creating mixed media pieces and fine art sculptures.
