Representatives from top Nevada energy companies will discuss how the “Lithium Loop” will transform Nevada’s economy.
Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (NCET) is hosting a special panel discussion on Nevada’s lithium economy, with our state being at the epicenter of the new lithium energy transition. The program and lunch will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Tamarack Casino in Reno, with a networking session ahead of the event from 11 a.m. to noon.
Participants and panelists include:
• Moderator - Caleb Cage, founder, Nevada Battery Coalition
• Dwayne McClinton, director of the Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy
• Laura Granier, partner, Holland & Hart
• Tim Crowley, vice president of government and external affairs, Lithium Americas
• Rahul Harkawat, founder and CEO, Quantum Copper
• Jim Hodge, senior vice president of power sources, Lithion Battery
• Alexia Sober, senior manager community relations, Comstock Inc.
The special event is produced by Ira M. Gostin, a veteran in global mining investor relations.
“As the world enters into a new era of energy consumption, electric vehicles and sustainable energy sources, Nevada is uniquely positioned to lead the movement for American energy independence,” said Gostin.
This event follows the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) selection of our region as one of 12 Designated Tech Hub’s to receive $21 million to help create and implement the “Lithium Loop,” which aims to extract, process, and recycle lithium materials all within Nevada. The Nevada Tech Hub was chosen out of over 480 applicants nationwide to receive federal funding for their program.
“As one of the most important mining states in the country, Nevada is built for the lithium economy,” said Sarah Johns, president and CEO of NCET. “This incredible panel gives our community the opportunity to hear from local lithium experts and learn how our state can become the backbone of the new energy transition.”
Nevada is home to multiple lithium projects, including Thacker Pass, a development project of Lithium Americas. The growing lithium battery market in North America is estimated to be worth over $20 billion and is anticipated to grow at a rate of approximately 20 percent a year from 2024 to 2032.
