Nevada State Controller Andy Matthews said the Nevada Open Finance Portal has been updated to include a link to a website maintained by Carson City that features information on the city’s finances.

The Nevada Open Finance Portal – https://checkbook.nv.gov – was launched in February and includes data on the state checkbook, budget, payroll, pension disbursements and more.

“The site now includes a drop-down menu labeled ‘Counties,’ with the eventual goal of including links to financial data on all 17 counties as well as municipal governments, school districts and more. Carson City, which launched its ‘Carson City Finance at a Glance’ website in August 2022, is the first local-government entity to be added to the state website,” the State Controller’s Office said in a news release.

“As the Controller’s Office continues to promote government transparency through the Nevada Open Finance Portal, I’m pleased to announce the addition of Carson City as our first step in including local-government data on the website,” Matthews said. “I also want to thank and applaud Carson City’s leaders for making this information available to the public, and for their commitment to transparent, accountable government.”

Matthews also announced a new initiative called “Transparency Tuesday,” through which the Controller’s Office will use its social media accounts to spotlight developments in its efforts to increase government transparency throughout the state.
