People: Julie Gwin assumes new role at Northern Nevada HOPES

Northern Nevada HOPES announced Julie Gwin will assume the position of chief operating officer.

Gwin’s extensive experience in clinical operations and nonprofit healthcare, as well as her previous role as director of risk management for the agency, will support HOPES’s mission to expand its comprehensive health services to thousands of Nevadans.

As COO of HOPES, Gwin will be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of HOPES’s services and programs, ensuring the highest standards of care and efficiency across the organization.

Gwin spent nearly all of her 26-year career in the nonprofit sector. As a registered nurse for 12 years, she began as a cardiac nurse and house supervisor at a nonprofit hospital in North Carolina, then became the director of clinical operations at a federally-qualified health center in Reno, and later the director of risk management and compliance at HOPES.

With over five years of FQHC experience, Gwin is dedicated to providing accessible health care to all. Gwin has been a certified de-escalation trainer, she is passionate about legislative advocacy, she has served as board president for Immunize Nevada, and she currently sits on the Nevada Commission for Persons Who Are Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the Nevada Primary Care Association’s Advocacy Committee.
