The Village on Sage Street opens to new residents as another step forward in reducing the affordable housing crisis in Northern Nevada.

The Community Foundation of Northern Nevada expansion project was partially funded from a $31,500 affordable housing grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to help increase access to affordable housing.

The new 96-unit affordable housing expansion was recently completed and received its certificate of occupancy in late February.

The facility was originally comprised of eight modular buildings with 216 small single-occupancy units for individuals at least 18 years of age earning minimum wage, or those with other low income.

The Village on Sage Street’s expansion project is increasing the capacity by nearly 50% for this important target group, providing 96 additional beds for residents. The location of this project is situated adjacent to the existing village.

Volunteers of America will operate the village and is currently making the expansion units available to individuals on its waitlist.
