Northwest Specialty Hospital will allow for the move and expansion of services currently offered at Northern Nevada Medical Center. The specialty hospital will feature 48 adult behavioral health beds and a 22-bed acute rehabilitation unit with a full-scale therapy gym and transitional apartment.

The department will include a full-scale therapy gym, transitional care apartment, which will allow for patients to prepare for day-to-day functions prior to discharge, access to a multispecialty team, and programs for family members to engage in the patient’s care.

Adult Behavioral Health is led by a physician medical director and a multispecialty care team including physicians, hospitalists, APRNs, nurses, CNAs and licensed social workers. In addition to providing mental health care for adults 18 and older, the department will have a wing for adults 55 and older who are being treated for dementia, Alzheimer’s and related memory-associated conditions.

The facility will host enrichment programs including music therapy, exercise classes, support groups, and more.
